The Scottish Water Distribution Operations Maintenance Strategy (DOMS) has introduced a new module. Module 2A "Advanced Sample Practitioner" is designed for anyone who will be actively involved in taking samples from the Scottish Water network. Module 2 (Hygiene Sampling Procedures) continues to exist.

Module 2A is an advanced sampling training module designed to give DOMS Practitioners who physically undertake sampling activities the practical knowledge and skills required to complete sampling procedures for potable water samples in compliance with the Water Supply (Water Quality)(Scotland) Regulations 2001. This module will ensure that practitioners who take samples can complete their sampling activities competently and have been trained to a sufficient standard

The advanced module has an expected duration of 0.5 working days and combines theoretical and practical assessment.

Anyone completing module 2A who already holds a module 2 endorsement on their card will have the relevant line replaced. Cards will not show both endorsements.

New registrants under the DOMS scheme who require module 2A will not be required to first complete module 2 as the outcomes of module 2 are also covered in 2A.
